Minimalism—the new queen of the runway. Back in the limelight this year is minimalist design. Beautiful, sophisticated, and simple, minimalism will continue to grace the runway this season and perhaps beyond. But the 2010 minimalism isn’t simply about basic design and clothing. It’s more about simplicity to intrigue and entice fashionistas not only on the eye-catching design, but also on the details at hand. Minimalism and simplicity is also hot on wholesale clothing as a way to give recession stricken shoppers a mean of acquiring runway-worthy designs.
Ahead of the minimalist trend is designer Stella McCartney. Her 2010 Fall Collection was a clean sweep of tailored suits and coats embellished with little details. Simple and plain slacks were also a part of her collection and short evening dresses layered with sheer. V-neck tunics and sleeveless wool coats with occasional bursts of bright colors was a welcome addition to her mostly black and grey ensemble. Her designs are a true reflection of her elegant styling.
Not far beyond is Riccardo Tisci. His collection opened with toned down designs, but still exuding sexiness and sophistication. Slim pants, skirts, slim trouser suits and soft colored coats highlighted his collection with few touches of color.
British designers, Phoebe Philo and Hannah MacGibbon were also forefronts in this fashion revolution updating minimalism to a new level with their modern designs. A simple coat, possibly in grey or black, paired with pencil skirt, t-shirt or blouse makes up most of their designs.
For her first collection for Céline, Philo gave other designers the reason to follow through the spring-cleaning trend. Sharp lines, little color, and minimal or no embellishments at all was her way to start the minimalism revolution. MacGibbon, on the other hand, showed feminine minimalism through blown-out hair and beige colors.
With more and more fashion designers going with the minimalist mode, people are given ways to follow with the latest fashion trend without shedding a lot of bucks. In fact, a few days after the launch of the minimalist revolution, budget copies flaunted most wholesale apparel stores. Though simple and minimal, these wholesale fashion clothes (e.g.
wholesale jeans, knee length skirts, and leather tanks) give people the opportunity to stay in style without going over budget.
Expect to have a minimalist invasion throughout this year with recession, economizing, budgeting, and cost cuttings all around. In fact, it’s really no surprise that minimalism have moved into the mainstream today.
